Dear PC, I think some of the best speakers on what Grids are doing might come from the auto and aerospace industries. I have heard all of these people present in English at conferences during the past year. I think their presentations have been very clear and highlighted some of the more advanced ways that Grids are being used. I think in some of the cases, aerospace firms are beginning to use Grids coupled with SOAs and Product Life Cycle Management software to automate interactions with supplier networks in the design process (Volvo and Airbus are pushing this). In the auto sector, simulations are increasingly used in design, particularly to build on common platforms, but the need to manage the huge amount of analysis that is being done is putting pressures on auto firms to develop better systems to manage the results of this work and the exchange of critical data. These people include: Philippe Homsi, coordinator of the VIVACE project and head of architecture and Integration capabilities at Airbus, France Mats Lindeblad, CAE Systems Integration Specialist, Advanced Design Engineering of Volvo Aero, Sweden Jamil Appa, Group Leader, Integration Technologies, BAE Systems, Bristol Ulrich Knaust, head of computer aided methods, or Walter Wirch, CAE Methods, Audi, Ingolstadt Bob Cohen
