Cloud Standards Plug Fest - April 19th-21st, Planning meeting next Tuesday 1/11

The CSI is sponsoring a CDMI plug fest at the SNIA Technology Center April 19-21st. This meeting is the kick off of planning for that event. Please plan to attend to find out more information and help us plan, even if you don't think you will be ready with your implementation by then. -- mark *Event Title*: CDMI Plug Fest Kickoff Meeting ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- *Date*: Tuesday, 11 January 2011, 10:00am - 11:00am PT *Description* Kick off meeting to start planning the April CDMI Plugfest 800-482-3251 719-457-5113 Participant Passcode: 195238 Webex Info: http://snia.webex.com Meeting Password: cloud2011 Meeting Name: CDMI Plug Fest ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- *Agenda* Logistics Budget Test Matrix Recruiting participation Draft participation agreement

OCCI folks, Is there interest in expanding this plug fest to include OCCI implementations as well? We have a joint OCCI/CDMI demo set up in the Colorado Springs lab and this could be an opportunity to update that. Thoughts? -- mark On 1/4/11 5:11 PM, Mark Carlson wrote:

I'll be there.. The OCCI implementation will need some heavy lifting to bring it up to spec. The current OCCI HTTP specification is out for comment, but should be close enough to build against. The real work will be taking the document centric application work flow of open nebula and move it to the high fidelity OCCI rpc. I'll take a look at this and have a report early next week. -gary On 1/5/2011 7:52 AM, Mark Carlson wrote:

Hi everyone! We at TU Dortmund are currently working on an OpenNebula OCCI Client based on the latest draft of the OCCI documents. Our goal is to have a recent implementation for OpenNebula to use it for our infrastructure and to investigate extending OCCI for advanced reservations. If others are working on an OpenNebula OCCI client or plan to do so, we would be very much interested to collaborate with them. We already contacted the OpenNebula core developers to inform them of our plans and they very much welcome work on a new OCCI client. Cheers, Florian Feldhaus Michael Behrens wrote: We'd be interested in updating the client we developed - this time porting it to an Android. The more servers the better (to test interoperability). Also - it would be good to use DMTF's OVF as well. Gary Mazz wrote: I'll be there.. The OCCI implementation will need some heavy lifting to bring it up to spec. Hi all, is anybody, by any chance, working on an open source OCCI client based on C or C++? I'd rather reuse code than re-implement from scratch ;-) If none is available, yet, is anybody interested to team up? Best, Andre. -- Nothing is ever easy...

You can tentatively include SLA@SOI to be included in this plug-fest. Hi, We would like to request OCCI-WG participation in the SNIA Cloud Standards Plug-Fest as discussed below, for those participants willing to sign the participant's NDS (basic purpose is to avoid early disclosure of implementations presented by others there; people are free to talk elsewhere about their own work or to allow release of their own information at their option by others) Please respond directly to Mark (with an optional courtesy copy to me) regarding details of your OCCI or other interoperable implementation, what features you want to provide for testing, any direct interoperability with other standards (CDMI, OVF/VMan, SRM, GridFTP, etc.), whether you will require hardware support at the event itself to support your implementation, etc. I can bring servers if needed, but assume that most OCCI spec demonstrations can be accomplished remotely; let me know if this is not correct or if other support is needed. In addition to Andy's response below, we have verbal confirmation from Alexander that he is willing to provide access by himself (any others) to the TU-Dortmund implementations and we need to coordinate on the testing to be performed. Please contact Mark or me directly, as descried above, about your participation and what features of OCCI or other specs you would like to test.
