Nice work! :-) I'm feverishly trying to get out a copy of SLA@SOI's API and Model review. I'll have it ready sometime tomorrow (API review is approx 15 pages, Model is 13 pages). It currently does not focus on storage or networking aspects of the reviewed APIs but we will be adding such aspects in the near future. Nice... as you mention in the document, OpenNebula is a VM Manager (tool for Datacenter/cluster virtualization or "private cloud" with support for "hybrid clouds"), being an open-source alternative to such as Platform VM Orchestrator, VMware vCenter or Microsoft System Center. That is the reason why OpenNebula provides API/CLI for VM migration, physical resource management and monitoring... Although we do not provide a Cloud API, RESERVOIR is developing a Cloud API on top of OpenNebula (called VMI), exposing to remote users only part of the OpenNebula functionality. I hope OCCIwill be adopted as Cloud interface by RESERVOIR, so the project could provide a reference implementation of the new specification using OpenNebula as back-end. Regards -- Ignacio M. From the perspective of EU framework projects, there's a very interesting and compelling case to adopt OCCI, especially where 2 large FP IPs adopt. I for one will certainly be pro-OCCI with respect to infrastructure management within SLA@SOI. -----Original Message----- From: Ignacio Martin Llorente [mailto:llorente@dacya.ucm.es] Sent: 17 April 2009 15:35 To: Edmonds, AndrewX Cc: Alexis Richardson; occi-wg@ogf.org Subject: Re: [occi-wg] APIs for cloud computing Nice... as you mention in the document, OpenNebula is a VM Manager (tool for Datacenter/cluster virtualization or "private cloud" with support for "hybrid clouds"), being an open-source alternative to such as Platform VM Orchestrator, VMware vCenter or Microsoft System Center. No problem - glad to contribute! For those interested, along with further updates to the current reviews, we'll have a similar review done for internal infrastructure management APIs but at the moment it's at an early stage.

Andy

All,
Please see the following matrix contributed by Patrick Kerpan from CohesiveFT.
http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=pGccO5mv6yH8Y4wV1ZAJrbQ
It lists operations that might appear in a cloud services API, and how some of the known APIs implement those operations (if at all). The idea is to be a reference point for understanding OCCI needs. It is not a substitute for work to create OCCI.

Correct me if I am wrong, this API listed is more of the orchestration "engine" (?) Possible more context on the function of each API, along with the great outline of feature that each can perform would be valuable.
