Request for current input on OCCI - please respond by early Wed. 21 September!

Apologies for the late request. I've talked with several of the group in person, but would like to request for purposes of thoroughness and completeness updates from each member of the OCCI work group any updates as to the status of their implementations, work on ongoing standards or any other community- based interactions or updates on OCCI of which they are aware. The use if this information is for an update I am scheduled to deliver to a session at the SIENA meeting tomorrow, Sep. 21 at a mid-morning session. Do not worry about formatting, as I can handle almost any input, but please feel free to send me any information about the current status of your effort - even just as an email message. (Of course, project logos, web references, papers or links for more information, and/or screenshots, etc. are also useful snd acceptable; I simply want to represent accurately the status of your work). Again, I have spoken to many of you in person, so should have the basic information handled, but please do feel free to send me updates as well as onfoation to add to what you have told me in person. Thanks, Alan

Hi Alan, Just some short unstructured summary from my side. During the last OGF we were working on: - Create / Read / Delete Storage / Network / Compute resources using OCCI 1.1 - Upload VM images as multipart messages using OCCI storage objects - text/plain and text/occi rendering tested - first steps for json rendering - Created a bunch of example OCCI 1.1 requests for testing (see [1]) - Successfully tested creation of Storagelinks to CDMI objects. Support for Storagelinks in OpenNebula backend. This means, that we should be able to create a VM with CDMI storage using OCCI and OpenNebula. Unfortunately we haven't had enough time to test if this indeed works with a non-dummy instance of OpenNebula. - Preparation (draft) to add advanced CDMI support to OpenNebula 3.0 to enable full OCCI/CDMI integration. This will enable OpenNebula to benefit from advanced Storage capabilities like deduplication, thin provisioning, snapshotting etc. if offered by the CDMI server. This work is coordinated with the OpenNebula development team. - Active participation in the recently announced OpenNebula Interoperability mailinglist (see [2]) - Skeleton of a combined open source OCCI/CDMI test suite (see [3]). If the OCCI WG agrees, we can integrate the existing OCCI test suite with this one or at least coordinate the work. The OCMI-tester should focus on interoperability and OCCI/CDMI integration testing. [1] http://dev.opennebula.org/projects/ogf-occi/wiki/Exmple_requests [2] http://www.opennebula.org/documentation:community:interoperability [3] https://github.com/livenson/ocmi-tester That's it for now. I'm currently working on some slides for tomorrow and will send them to you as soon as I arrive in Lyon. Cheers, Florian Am 20.09.11 18:59 schrieb "Sill, Alan" unter <alan.sill@ttu.edu>:

Hi Alan, I am currently working on a JSON rendering for OCCI and have submitted a pre-draft to the occi-wg subversion repository. I maintain the occi-py [1] library, a generic occi implementation in Python with the goal of being easy to plug into existing systems. It has as a RDBMs-friendly backend. The draft-JSON rendering is implemented in occi-py and a demo instance [2] is available for testing. The slides are great. I would like to add that the images of the OpenNebula OCCI implementation show an old implementation of the draft 0.8. The implementation of the OGF OCCI version 1.1 is being developed in a OpenNebula Ecosystem project by the Service Computing group, TU Dortmund: http://www.opennebula.org/software:ecosystem:occi http://dev.opennebula.org/projects/ogf-occi/wiki I think it would be nice to change these images and mention the efforts that are being made by Florian Feldhaus and his team from TU Dortmund in the integration of CDMI and OCCI with OpenNebula. Thanks and Regards

Hi Daniel, Thanks; Florian sent a similar comment. I will see if I can change those particular slides before showing the talk. We are also looking qt the option of standing up a OGF work group on cloud interoperability, which could be a vehicle for producing documents (profiles, etc.) based on such work. This could, for example, include the work being pursued for the OpenNebula and OCCI/CDMI/OVF interoperability efforts using other (e.g., standalone client) implementations. Please let us know what you think. Alan On Sep 21, 2011, at 9:57 AM, "Daniel Molina" <dmolina@opennebula.org> wrote:
