Re: [occi-wg] [Fwd: Re: Upcoming OGF 27 OCCI sessions]

Dear Ignacio, I wil be at EGEE '09, and will be giving a talk in the session "Grids and Cloud Computing: Perspectives and Early Experiences". The title of the talk is "Enabling Distributed Job Submission in Dynamic Virtual Execution Environments for EGEE Users". I will focus on points that are also part of the OpenNebula/EGEE collaboration, in particular for what regards: - Dynamic provisioning of EGEE site Worker Nodes, and - Expanding the Computing Capacity of an EGEE site using cloud resources. In the framework of our work, we are also studying and developing an OCCI-compliant interface to access computing resources. We are definitely interested in knowing the status of your project, and in understanding the solutions you mentioned. Best regards, Davide

Dear Michele,
Sounds interesting, are you aware of the collaboration between RESERVOIR and EGEE?. There will be a session at EGEE09 next week in Barcelona chaired by Steven Newhouse and myself to present the state of the collaboration (http://indico.cern.ch/sessionDisplay.py?sessionId=15&slotId=0&confId=55893#2009-09-21 ). The agenda will be:
- MoU between EGEE and RESERVOIR (Ignacio M. Llorente, UCM, RESERVOIR) - 10 minutes - OpenNebula/RESERVOIR Open-source Toolkit to Build Private, Hybrid and Public Clouds (Ruben.S Montero, UCM, RESERVOIR) - 10 minutes - Evaluation of OpenNebula/RESERVOIR to Virtualize Batch Execution in EGEE Sites (Ulrich Schwickerath, CERN, EGEE) - 10 minutes - Deploying a Virtualised EGEE Resource site to a Cloud Infrastructure (Cal Loomis, CNRS, StratusLab) - 10 minutes - Questions, summary and next steps - 20 minutes
This collaboration consists of three activities:
- Dynamic Provisioning of EGEE Site Worker Nodes - Expanding the Computing Capacity of a EGEE Site using Cloud resources - Deployment of a Virtualized EGEE Site to a Public Cloud
The OpenNebula implementation of OCCI-API (developed in RESERVOIR) will be evaluated in this context, as an API to provide resources to Grid services, with all the scheduling and management functionality provided by OpenNebula.

Tomorrow here at INFN there will be a meeting with some guys from RESERVOIR, and I will present some slides I've made about OCCI status.
Here at INFN, we're also developing a RESTful webservice, to abstract the grid resources to cloud ones. I'm implementing OCCI as the main API of the application. Tomorrow I can send you the slides, and I can also go deeper on parts you wish to give more importance.
I think that after OpenNebula, we are the second ones to implement concretely the OCCI drafts. I think it could be a good presentation.

Hi @all,
As you might know OGF27 will take place next month (October 12-16, 2009) in Banff, Alberta, Canada. For all details visit: http://ogf.org/OGF27/
During this one week event I requested 2 sessions for OCCI. Now I would like to know who is coming to Banff and maybe can present something. As you know OGF27 is one of the major milestones in OCCI since we intent to present one of the fist Cloud Standards - OCCI.
During those two seesions we will present and discuss the OCCI specification. I will try to provide a dial-in option as well.
In the first session I want to give a short presentation about OCCI as an introduction followed up by some presentations from external people. Maybe OGF, OpenNebula or similar.
Stefan Schulz already volunteered to present ETSI. I would also like to request you to state your interest in presenting.
After this informal presentations I would like to present the Specification. Discussions can then be held in a second session afterwards.
So please state your interest in presenting or just if you are coming. So maybe I'm not the only OCCI representative over there :-)
All the best,
-Thijs

Dear Davide, I was aware of your presentation. Ruben S. Montero, chair in the session, told me that you were invited to participate, and we were planning to talk to you. Why don't we meet after the session on EGEE and RESERVOIR at 19:00?. I think there are many scenarios for collaboration to build solution for Grid on Cloud? Look forward to meeting you!.
