Most of scenario 1 can be supported with an Apache Tashi backend. The only thing that cannot is the attaching of external devices. AFAIK apache tashi does not expose this functionality out of the box. Scenario 2 could be supported. Although there is support for persistent VM images, some additional functionality would have to be added to truly enable it (e.g. COW). @Florian, @Thijs - how does OpenNebula/OpenStack handle these scenarios?
