IBM contribution of its Cloud Computing Reference Architecture and references to CCMP

Dear OCCI-WG, An exercise of mapping of OCCI functionalities onto the proposed Common Cloud Management Platform (CCMP) features could be an interesting thing to do. I am not sure whether IBM is proposing CCMP as a ne standard, as a product, or just in the context of an architectural model; however, it seems well-enough described to compare with OCCI. Just a suggestion... Alan Begin forwarded message:

Today, IBM made a contribution of it's Cloud Computing Reference Architecture (CCRA) version 2.0 to The Open Group's (TOG) Cloud Computing Architecture Project.
Given that certain aspects of the evolving NIST RA were derived from an early version of IBM's CCRA (v1), there may be interest in our latest thinking.

Thanks for this Alan... On a cursory read through the referenced document and one of its predecessor [1], I see this more as a general architecture for cloud computing rather than a means to control/manage arbitrary cloud services (e.g. infrastructure services) through a standardised interface and protocol. From my POV, what is presented is but a generalised architecture and so there is little detail on what is known as the "Service Consumer Portal & API". It is to this particular component/entity where OCCI would be placed. So to your request, I would say that a) what's presented is an architectural model and b) it complements OCCI rather than something suitable for a *tête-à-tête* comparison. I've attached a diagram to show how the two complement each other (the diagram should be familiar - it's just the OCCI architectural overview adapted for this case [2]). I guess the diagram might be useful too! Andy andy.edmonds.be On Fri, Mar 4, 2011 at 00:17, Andy Edmonds <andy@edmonds.be> wrote:
