Minutes

Attendees: Tom, Mark, Florian, David

1) Establish schedule for plugfest planning meetings
- Future planning meetings will be set for 7 AM Pacific Time

2) Recap of Cloud Plugfest at SDC (what worked and what did not)

+ very glad with NetApp and how they organized everything
+ It was great option to participate remotely and everything was manageable in spite of different time zone
+ Presenting during the Cloud PlugFest helped interactions with the other participants and to understand their point of view for our solution
- The 9h of Lag is hurting the communication
- Have tighter agenda with some points that includes everyone in the testing process
- It was sometimes hard to get in touch with the people in the US. This led to some problems in using their test instances
- Amount of inter action between the EMEA people seemed quite low ... most attendees where from TU Dortmund

Suggestions:
- Provide a URL of chat and wiki a few days in advance
- Test instances should be at least up and running a few days before the plugfest and run nonstop until a few days after the plugfest
- There should be stable and experimental test instances to be able to separate client tests against stable servers from server tests
- One organized sync up meeting per day where everyone is encouraged to report on problems and progress
- It would be great if OVF could be included in the next plugfest
- More organized plugfest agenda
- have a tighter agenda with some points that includes everyone in the testing process

3) Logistics for future plugfest(s)
- Target date - date options
-- Earliest date would be January 3-5 or Feb 7-9 or Feb 28- Mar 1
-- AI: Tom will setup a doodle poll (Mark will forward to OVF & CIMI folks)
--- Open a doodle poll for two weeks, then schedule next PF planning call the following Tuesday (22 November).

- Potential participants:
- Vision Cloud Project
-- AI: David volunteered to develop a list of European target participants

- Location(s)
-- AI: Florian will look into other location options for Europe venue
-- Agreed that Europe would be primary location (Mark & David are planning to attend)
-- US location would be remote and may require Mark or David to be present
--- If there is critical mass of US folks, then can look into an east coast location
--- SNIA Tech Center not an option due to time zone deltas

4) Discuss cloud plugfest goals for 2012
- Could organize mini virtual plugfests leading up to main plugfests
- schedule 3-4 plugfest per year spaced 3-4 mos apart.
- Keep plugfests sequentially numbered, PF #1...n - helps demonstrate maturity of activity
-- Plan to have plugfest T-shirts given out at some point
-- AI: Setup doodle polls for each future plugfest after initial plugfest is set - Tom will look into schedules

5) Discuss options for formalizing cloud plugfests
- More formalized testing procedure to run "stable" tests instances
- Have stable test tools available
- Interoperability testing between implementations after initial spec conformance testing
- Get more data into Wiki matrix, later on we can look at a more formal method and publicizing results for marketing needs

Next meeting: 22 November @ 7:00 AM Pacific Time
