At the end, we have time for an open discussion before closing.16:00 - Introduction of the special session - Augusto
16:30 - #2 Easing Scientific Computing and Federated Management in the Cloud with OCCI, by Zdenek Šustr et al.
16:55 - #3 SLAaaS: an OCCI compliant framework for cloud SLA provisioning and violation detection, by G. Katsaros et al.
17:20 - #4 Beyond Nagios - Design of a cloud monitoring system, by Augusto Ciuffoletti17:45 - ogf#1 review of OCCI 1.2 - summary, status of documents, feedback (Boris?) (10' brief + 10' discussion)
18:05 - ogf#2 Implementations of OCCI 1.2: short & long term plans, foresee-able challenges, project road-maps, OCCIware project (Jean?) (10' brief +10' discussion)
18:25 - ogf#3 Perspective on OCCI 2.0: XML rendering, filtering, transport, attribute types refinement (Augusto?) (5' brief)
18:30 - Open discussion
19:00 - Extended special session close
The three OGF talks (together with the four paper presentations) should improve the outreach of OCCI.
The final open discussion should help to finalize the submitted documents.
Many items among those suggested by Jean and Boris are not scheduled. The inventory:
-) discussion on changes which didn't get into OCCI 1.2
-) Extending OCCI's query interface -- in-depth discussion on query
interface extensions, multi-location set-ups, advertising endpoints,
etc.
-) Towards OCCI 2.0 -- preliminary discussions, roadmap
-) Filtering in OCCI -- this discussion is long overdue :-)
-) Transport protocol extensions -- perhaps AMQP, any other ideas?
-) Rendering extensions -- for the next release, we should finally
get XML into the standard
-) OpenAPI/Swagger
Some of them are challenging and urgent, but I think that now we should really focus on closing the 1.2 documents, and consider them as building blocks.

AugustoIn the next week we will try to finalize the agenda using the info provided by Jean, Boris, and by all those that have not yet replied. I'd like to have a word about that from Andy and Thijs. The Closer secretariat confirms the availability of the same room used for the special session until 19:00, so that we have one additional hour for an OGF-labelled session. This way we facilitate the attendance of people interested though not directly involved in OCCI. I'd concentrate in this time slot the discussions and briefs that are not too technical, and that give a perspective of OCCI activity. We can arrange a further (or even preliminary) meeting to discuss more technical issues: I guess we have plenty of places where to meet, and in case I'll ask for further availability to Closer. As for financial issues, the secretariat pointed out that the participants need to register to the main conference. No words about a financial participation of OGF. I asked if this was appropriate, but the reply was that the participants need to register, nothing else. So, if OGF wants to help the participants...

We have a two-hours session scheduled during the conference: it is oursession, and we can organize it in the way that better fits our needs, provided that the four scheduled talks take place. For instance, if wereduce the length of the presentations to 20 minutes (instead of 30), 40minutes are left for discussion, briefing or whatever. Also, I am ratherconfident that Closer would be happy to allow the utilization of the sameroom for an extended time slot (thought I'd need to check and ask for this).
So there is really the opportunity to capitalize on this Special Session: wejust need a widely agreed definition and purpose for the additional activitythat we want to carry out (agenda). It would be great if this could help thedelivery of the pending documents (OCCI 1.2 and monitoring).
A formal announcement, according with Jean's suggestion, should be based ona work plan: is there any plan of this sort?We don't have anything specific yet, but I have a few suggestions. Ifwe can agree on some of them or perhaps add new ones, we should haveenough for an OCCI WG meeting.
1.) Review of OCCI 1.2 -- summary, late feedback, status of documents, discussion on changes which didn't get into OCCI 1.22.) Implementations of OCCI 1.2 -- short & long term plans, forseeablechallenges, project roadmaps
1-2 slides on OCCIware current status and roadmap.
3.) Extending OCCI's query interface -- in-depth discussion on queryinterface extensions, multi-location set-ups, advertising endpoints,etc.4.) Towards OCCI 2.0 -- plans for the future, preliminary discussions, roadmap
Some inputs on that:* attributes types refinment* possible links with OpenAPI / Swagger ?
5.) Filtering in OCCI -- this discussion is long overdue :-)6.) Transport protocol extensions -- perhaps AMQP, any other ideas?7.) Rendering extensions -- for the next release, we should finallyget XML into the standard
I've initiated that, I can present status, evolutions, ...
Regards,Jean
What do you think? Any other ideas? Something to remove/add?
Can we envision a furthermeeting to be formally announced during the Session?

Is there a need for the OCCI-WG or its members and participants (or acommunity group focused on OCCI implementations) to meet at CLOSER 2016? OGFcould pay for meeting rooms and.or offer a small co-sponsorship of theconference to cover the reasonable costs of such a meeting if so.
We don’t have a lot of money for such things and try to spend itcarefully, but meetings of OGF groups that are well attended at topicalconference is one way that we try to use it and is possible under specialcircumstances.
Given the pending release of OCCI 1.2, I think that a meeting on OCCI 1.2implementations would be well in scope and is something that we canconsider.

Dear all,Thank you Augusto for organizing this session.I would propose an official OCCI discussion to be announced during thissession. I have no doubt such discussion will appear informally during theconference but for funding/administrative purpose, it would greatly help tohave it officially announced, and maybe let some people join who could nototherwise.

The Program Committeeselected 4 papers out of 6 that were submitted, and the authors will presenttheir work on the second day of the Conference. The exact time of thepresentations is still to be finalized.
The selected papers are the following:
Evolution of The Open Cloud Computing Interface, by Boris Parak et al.
Easing Scientific Computing and Federated Management in the Cloud withOCCI, by Zdenek Šustr et al.
SLAaaS: an OCCI compliant framework for cloud SLA provisioning andviolation detection, by G. Katsaros et al.
Beyond Nagios - Design of a cloud monitoring system (Augusto Ciuffoletti)
It is my hope that this event will extend the reach of the OCCI principlesto new people, especially researchers. Those of you that are going toparticipate to CLOSER are warmly invited to participate to the event to getin touch and reinforce a network.
