Link attribute changes?

Hi all, In the specification refinements found in the wiki the Core & Models document [1] appears to change the Link attributes specification. In the docbook spec (rev 164 from SVN) a link to an associated resource looks like this: Link: </storage/disk1>; rel="http://purl.org/occi/kind#storage"; title="Quorum Disk" I.e. the "rel" attribute specifies the Resource scheme. In the wiki [1] however, another attribute named "target" is described as: "The Kind to which the Link points to." Depending on the nature of the provisioned resource, Cloud services are typically classified in • infrastructure as a service (IaaS) which offers CPU time, memory, etc. • platform as a service (PaaS) which brings easy service development and maintenance close to the end user, • and software as a service (SaaS) which is not an actual new way for provisioning software. The Cloud entails three main assumptions: 1) the provision of virtually infinite services; this first one is supported by 2) automated scalability for the services in the Cloud (meaning that scaling up/down our services is agile enough so as to respond to the actual demand); 3) flexible billing mechanisms allowing a pay as you go model. There has been a Cambrian explosion in the number of Cloud products and services. Very significant examples are Amazon's AWS (IaaS), Google's App Engine (PaaS) and Google's Apps (SaaS). However, this myriad of products is just offered as a service, making it very difficult for small to midsized organizations to create and run their own Clouds from scratch. *Objective of the Book* This book will wrap up those few open source toolkits for Cloud computing that allow users to build their own private, hybrid or even public Clouds. Thus, we aim at bridging the gap between actual solutions and users' needs. The book will become a reference when it comes to decide whether to use an OSS solution, build a custom private solution or just outsource services from a public Cloud. Importantly, for those deciding to start the endeavor of their own Cloud, the book will serve as a reference starting point. This work is very much needed since we will target toolkit authors to write the needed chapters, bringing fresh knowledge handy for non experts in the available open source systems. *Target Audience* The target audience of this book will be composed of professionals and researchers working in the field of information and knowledge management in various disciplines, e.g. library, information and communication sciences, administrative sciences and management, education, adult education, sociology, computer science, and information technology. Moreover, the book will provide insights and support executives concerned with the management of expertise, knowledge, information and organizational development in different types of work communities and environments. Cloud Computing Use Cases White Paper : "Moving to the Cloud" proposed topic for V5.

As previously posted, Version 4 of the Cloud Compouting Use Cases White Paper was published June 30th and can be accessed at http://cloudusecases.org/ . We asked for input for a topic for V5 and based on the feedback to date, the topic "Moving to the Cloud" has percolated to the top. As we move into Version 5 and Moving to the Cloud, a sample of the questions that will need to be answered are as follows: * What is the business criteria for considering a service / application to be moved to the Cloud? * What kinds of applications / data are a good match for the cloud? * What kinds of workloads are a good match for the cloud? * What regulatory and legal considerations limit the options for cloud computing? * When to move everything to the cloud, when to use the cloud to handle overflow processing (cloudbursting), when to keep things in house but use the cloud for backup, etc. These topics start to form the areas of content that can be considered and discussed. I am sure that other discussion threads will evolve in support of Moving to the Cloud. The topic "Moving to the Cloud" is very complementary to what has already been developed in Version 4. Let us know what you think about "Moving to the Cloud" as the topic for V5. We have a lot of real-world, hands-on experience in the group, and sharing that with the community would be really valuable. p.s. Use Case Scenarios

Hi all, I'm looking for volunteers! Do any of you have time (only 1-2 hours) to try a doing a use case scenario [1]? If you do, the goal is to express each scenario using OCCI HTTP Header rendering request and responses. I have already done the 1st two so you can use my 2 examples as a guide and basis. This is important so that we can test the current OCCI model and discover any inconsistencies or deficiencies. The results of these use case scenarios will be used as input to not only the OCCI model but also in explicating the API. Hi, These are the topics we want to deal with for next OGF meeting in Brussels (October 25-29, 2010): - Changes to the Specification/Document which are due for OGF30: * Refinements/New revision of OCCI-Core and OCCI Infrastructure (Especially to make the core model more clear) documents * RDFa specification (4th document) * API definition (new document as informational doc) - Demos for OGF30: * cloud-demo (Updated on the OCCI/CDMI implementations, usage of iSCSI in the backend) * SLA@SOI - demo? - Other topics to be presented: * VM I/O input/output - An extension to OCCI, defined in a spec. * Billing - Demonstrate some progress on this issue Your comments are more than welcome!
