Follow-up on today's concall regarding requirements.

Hi, A new version of the usecases and requirements document is available in gridforge: http://forge.ogf.org/sf/docman/do/downloadDocument/projects.occi-wg/docman.… Next to some small changes to the priorities of some requirements we came up with the following issues: * Question: Should we define a syntax for the attributes defined by requirements A.1.1 A.1.2 and A.1.3.? * Question regarding requirement A.2.5.: What does poll mean in in this manner? * Storage: Should we add a requirement which states that it should be possible to use SNIA and OCCI side-by-side (and so to say compatible?). What are the implications of this for OCCI and SNIA? * Backup: The requirements B.4.1 and B.4.2. seem to be a little defined to broad. Should we add more detail? Postpone this issue? I would love to see your comments on those 4 topics. Cloud Computing Use Cases - Final Version

Anymore use cases which nede to be documented

Hi, Today I moved all the use cases we had in the wiki to the document: http://forge.ogf.org/sf/docman/do/downloadDocument/projects.occi-wg/docman.… (Except the financial grid use case...) Those descriptions still need be refined in the wording and references to the sources need to be added - but this is just the start :-) The question is now: are there anymore use cases which need to be added? Hi, I just upload a new draft version of the use case and requirements document. I added the latest use case and inserted the requirements tables: http://forge.ogf.org/sf/docman/do/downloadDocument/projects.occi-wg/docman.… The IMPORTANT part comes now :-) Please review the tables especially with regards to the priorities! I added the priorities I thought might fit - but they need to be refined. jclouds and occi support

Hi, Team. In case you've forgotten, jclouds is an open source java client for IaaS and PaaS resources. We've recently implemented rackspace cloud servers support<http://anyweight.blogspot.com/2009/07/sneak-peak-jclouds-and-rackspace.html>. The process was quite straightforward and only took a week to code and test their REST api. This was our first non-storage initiative. I'd like the next to be OCCI support. Does anyone have time to touch up the appspot implementation? Once this is up-to-date with the spec-in-progress, I can put some time into jclouds support of this. Potential libcloud / OCCI collaboration

Afternoon Alex et al, I write to you as the secretary of the Open Grid Forum (OGF)'s Open Cloud Computing Interface (OCCI) working group. You can find out more about us at http://www.occi-wg.org/ but our aim in a nutshell is to create a truly open standard API for cloud infrastructure services (IaaS), with a final release due in October. I joined the OCCI-WG back in March after running into difficulties making multiple cloud APIs work together due to impedance mismatches between them, and would very much like to see a successful API result such that adapters are eventually not necessary. If libcloud were to support OCCI then not only would it gain access to anyone who implements it, but eventually it could become a primary programmatic inteface for our RESTful API. I see this as a great opportunity for us to collaborate given we are working towards a common goal from different angles. Anyway I've joined this group and will contribute when I can. I encourage you also to join the OCCI working group (copied) and follow our progress. Kind regards, Sam

OpenNebula v1.4 brings a new framework to easily develop Cloud interfaces

Hi, This email is to inform that we have just released a beta version of OpenNebula v1.4, which brings among other innovations a new OpenNebula Cloud API (OCA) to easily develop any Cloud interface or Cloud application. As example we have implemented a new EC2 Query-API service on top of OpenNebula that exposes a subset of the Amazon's Query API. The OCA framework is being used to develop the RESERVOIR Cloud interface and will be used to develop the OGF OCCI API (see http://www.opennebula.org/doku.php?id=documentation:rel1.4#cloud_interfaces) I have just updated the resources page in the group WIKI with links to the new interfaces.
