Hi, Just to inform you that there is a cool project going on called Dasein-Cloud. http://dasein-cloud.sourceforge.net/ On the website it reads: Dasein Cloud is an Open Source Java API made available by enStratus Networks LLC under the terms of the Apache License 2.0. This API specifies cloud-independent interfaces for enabling an application to access resources across multiple clouds. If you are interested have a look - and it might be great to implement OCCI in their someday! Validating the Cloud on, well, the Cloud

Folks, in a moment of boredom, I rewrote Thijs' OCCI testing tool to run in Google App Engine (GAE). Please take a look at http://doyouspeakocci.appspot.com for the application (and, of course, try your service) and see https://github.com/lxndrp/doyouspeakocci/ for the source code of the application. The code is largely undocumented, but not very difficult to understand, if you are (like me) a fairly bad Python programmer and ever heard of Django Templates. If you find anything that you wish to improve, feel free to do so. A few rules of thumb for this: 1. Although the code is released under LGPL2, I consider it "AdviseWare": when making an improvement, let me know where I was too stupid to get it right in the first place. 2. Remember that GAE has certain restrictions in what can be done and how you can do it. See http://code.google.com/intl/de-DE/appengine/docs/ for details. 3. Before making a change, create a ticket in the GitHub tracker. 4. During making a change, remember to add some documentation (for new classes and defs) or at least comments (close to your change). 5. After making a change, enjoy the fuzzy feeling of having contributed to the community. Even if you are not a Python developer, you can help out: the pages served by the application look, ahem, bad. So if you happen to be an HTML/CSS expert, your help is more than appreciated. Ultimately, the testing tool should look similar to the web pages at http://occi-wg.org (ask Andy whether you can feel free to steal stuff from there for the GAE app!). Hoping you will enjoy the tool, my mind demands some rest now and advises me to be off for a few beers. Best, Alexander

JSON rendering

Hi, I missed last weeks IRC session but read the chat-log. I very much agree that an easy-to-parse media type is needed and since I have been talking about a JSON rendering for almost a year now I have made available what I got so far. I used your idea to keep a copy of the Categories in the HTTP header although I render all Categories in JSON as well. Much easier to parse that way for e.g. an AJAX client. Examples do tend to speak best so please find 3 example outputs attached: single_resource.txt - JSON rendering of a single resource instance. Note that the Category header is present. all_resources.txt - JSON rendering of all resource instances, i.e the result of a GET / HTTP/1.1. Note that no Category headers are present here, they are not usable for collections. The compute is linked to the storage using a storagelink so you can see the link rendering etc. discovery.txt - JSON rendering of the discovery interface The occi-py demo is updated with JSON rendering support so please feel free to try it out. Simple specify 'Accept: application/json' in your request to get JSON rendering. JSON parsing for POST/PUT is not yet available so use text/occi or text/plain for creating new resource instances. I used 'application/json' media type for the demo but I guess application/occi+json would be more appropriate. In that case we should probably migrate text/plain to application/occi+text as well... OCCI Implementations

Hi, tomorrow at 2pm MDT I will give a presentation on "Cloud Standards Interoperability: Status Update on OCCI and CDMI Implementations" based on the Cloud Plugfest last week at the "Workshop on Science Agency Uses of Clouds and Grids". As there were only the R2AD OCCI implementation and our implementation present at the Plugfest, I would like to know which other implementations are currently out there in the wild and what their status is. This is on short notice, but I would be glad if you could provide me the name, current status, license, URL to source code, client/server, test instance and supported OCCI version of the OCCI implementations you are developing or at least know about. I promise to help putting it on the OCCI webpages and other wikis (e.g. Cloud Plugfest Wiki or Wikipedia) if applicable. OCCI F2F meeting proposal for September

Folks, since the next OGF, which will take place in Lyon, France from September 19-23, 2011, is very packed and things will co-locate with Grid 2011, the EGI Technical Forum 2011, and several other (albeit smaller) events, we will most probably only have time for the official sessions, and not so much time for out-of-band discussion. I therefore would like to suggest a F2F meeting before this event, in the week before. As venue, I can offer rooms at TU Dortmund University, which is easy to reach via Düsseldorf International Airport (DUS). I guess a two-day meeting would be good to have enough time to discuss. OCCI text, json...

During today's conf I said I had an ANTLR grammar that read in the OCCI text format and converted it to a possibly suitable OCCI JSON format (Ralf and I had sync'ed on this JSON structure some months ago).
