Edgy Resource Attributes during Creation

Hi, One more edge.. During resource creation, resource attributes are included with the request. OCCI defined resources have defined attributes. The question is what does the occi server do when insufficient attributes are defined in the create request ? Does the create fail ? Does the server populate the Resource with default values ? or does the create complete missing some attributes. cheers gary

Query uniqueness

Hi, Maybe I'm looking that the specifications too long, but it seems you can place more than one term in a query named space... for example, a query named space '/network/' could refer to both the occi scheme and a private scheme. There is no requirement that identical 'terms' used to describe a resource category to have a similar or the same functional characteristics as terms defined in the occi scheme. There is a mention of an "entity_type" to "Entity type uniquely identified by the Kind instance." However it doesn't say "entity_type" uniquely "identifies" the Kind Instance. The only way to uniquely identify a Kind is by scheme:term. And this leads back to the issue with the query It looks like the query name is the category's "term" but we do not have a way to filter in specific schemes. cheers, gary

Translating foreign resources

Hi, An issue came up of translating foreign resources between providers.. There are two (3) use cases: 1) we have a provider that has a unique network, defined as a IPNetworkingMixin. Another provider doesn't support that Resource.. 2) We have 2 providers, each provider has a unique network, defined as a IPNetworkingMixin. The operation of the networks is different between providers, their name spaces overlap. 3) We have a provider and they would like to transcribe the IPNetworkingMixin, but the resource class is know to be in an overlapping name space. We have 4 questions: Q1) How do we identify the name space of the originating Mixin A1) The name space is provided by the scheme associated with the resource Q2) There is not enough information in the scheme to translate the resource.. A2) No clear practice Q3) If we translate another providers Mixin, what do we export, the original mixin definition, our translated mapping or both ? A3) No clear practice Q4) If we export both our resource and the original mixin, how do we link them together? A4) No clear pratice Suggestions: Q2: We need some hints? Maybe a pointer to a super class ie derived class "IPNetworkingMixin", super class "Neworking". Looking for some suggestions cheers, gary

DMTF work register elements - response requested

OCCI-WG: What elements do you want to see in the revised OGF-DMTF work register? What should be exposed there, what milestones can be drawn, and what do you want to see remain in the open OGF process? (If possible, can you please be specific in terms of milestones and specific work items.) Since this is a public list, feel free to send your suggestions directly to Thijs or me, or discuss them in any subgroups in any way before sending them in. We do need a quick response, though, since this has to go to the OGF and DMTF boards and that process will take time, so the quicker we get your responses, the faster we can proceed through the whole process. (If you have sent a response already, I should have that in my e-mail, so you don't need to repeat it unless you have other thoughts, which are welcome.) Thanks! Alan

Its all about Location, location, location

Hi, The location is defined : Location paths tell the client where all resource instance of one Kind or Mixin (in case the Mixin is used as a tag) can be found regardless of the hierarchy the service provider defines. This language poses a problem in multi-tenant and where Kind/Mixins are placed in hierarchically managed name spaces. Stating the location is reference at the user's (consumer's) top level name space may be a clearer way of defining its role. cheers, gary

HTTP rendering doc out of public comment

Hi @all, Public comment has ended for the HTTP rendering document and we received some comments. I would take care of cleaning up the document, and issues 2, 3. I'll also update the security sections on all documents accordingly. @Andy: can you handle 1, 5? @Ralf: Can you handle 4, 6? Issues which can be edited right away: 1. Add ANTLR grammar as appendix to HTTP rendering doc 2. Add note about actions on a filtered collection 3. update security sections 4. add filtering mechanism based on X-OCCI-Attribute 5. advertise the query interface using the /.well-known mechanism as described in RFC5785 [1]. 6. For consistency OCCI Core attributes should be rendered with "occi.core." prepended. For example 'summary' would be rendered as 'occi.core.summary'. I'm not sure about the following: * Only show mutable attributes in the query interface Thinks to do regardless of the document: * register text/occi Deadline: THIS FRIDAY (April 1st)!!!
