Hello all, I agree with Gary. <...prepare for a nano-rant...and one caveat> Caveat: Bob and Cary persevered against a challenging timetable and incorporating many suggestions (and likely lost a bit of sleep) to submit this paper on time. Under these circumstances, it is a job well done. To reinforce, this paper is like a cloud computing RA shopping list. It is a "melange" (I hope this means what I think it means) of reference architecture concepts from both SDOs and commercial bodies. Though this paper is not as focused as I would desire, it attempts to present NIST with valuable ideas to ponder. I would like NIST to consider modifying the diagram similar with Michael's suggestion though I differ a bit with regards to security. My concept for security ideally, would be more pervasive. Perhaps a blanket covering all aspects. The OCCI wg holds enough independent SDO prestige that any suggestions would be well considered by NIST. So if you have any recommendations, please send them to Alan (Mr. Sills has been working a very difficult path guiding NIST, if someone actually sees Alan, please pat him on the back for me) or this wg. The NIST Reference Architecture Analysis Team is wrapping up its work as input for the report to be prepared prior to the upcoming NIST Cloud Computing Forum and Workshop III. Invitation to Key Cloud computing event: Cloudscape III - 15-16 March 2011, Brussels

Dear all, I am writing to invite you to the Cloudscape III event: Taking European Cloud Infrastructure Forward, 15 & 16 March 2011, The Hotel (formerly the Hilton), Brussels. Organised by the EC-funded *SIENA * <http://www.sienainitiative.eu/Default.aspx>(Standards and Interoperability for eInfrastructure Implementation Initiative) project, Cloudscape III is the perfect opportunity for experts, developers and end-users in the cloud computing space to become part of the cloud standards process. The event is the culmination of 8 months hard work by SIENA of delivering both an invigorating and stimulating agenda. We are also delighted to announce that*Robert Madelin, DG INFSO Director-General* will open Cloudscape III with a keynote presentation. *Dawn Leaf, Senior Advisor NIST Information Technology Laboratory & Senior Executive for Cloud Computing, NIST* will also be giving a key presentation at the event. Their participation is a clear recognition of the work of SIENA and in particular the importance of the SIENA European Roadmap on Grid and Cloud Standards for e-Science and Beyond, the first iteration of which will be launched at the event. The *SIENA European Roadmap on Grid and Cloud Standards for e-Science and Beyond*, focuses on interoperability and standards with the long-term goal of delivering a policy framework for distributed computing that ensures fair competition and adherence to European strategic priorities. To help achieve these goals, the SIENA consortium is taking advantage of Cloudscape-III to showcase speakers from all over the globe in offering their personal insights on specific use cases or interoperability issues surrounding Cloud computing. It may be appropriate to check the additional columns for "Cloud management," "Platform APIs" and "Infrastructure APIs" as I have done in the attached copy. IBM contribution of its Cloud Computing Reference Architecture and references to CCMP

Dear OCCI-WG, An exercise of mapping of OCCI functionalities onto the proposed Common Cloud Management Platform (CCMP) features could be an interesting thing to do. I am not sure whether IBM is proposing CCMP as a ne standard, as a product, or just in the context of an architectural model; however, it seems well-enough described to compare with OCCI. Just a suggestion... After considerable prodding from Mark ;-) I have updated the entries for OGF and for the three current near-release OCCI documents in the table at http://cloud-standards.org Here is what I put in.
