Hi, Just to inform you that there is a cool project going on called Dasein-Cloud. http://dasein-cloud.sourceforge.net/ On the website it reads: Dasein Cloud is an Open Source Java API made available by enStratus Networks LLC under the terms of the Apache License 2.0. This API specifies cloud-independent interfaces for enabling an application to access resources across multiple clouds. If you are interested have a look - and it might be great to implement OCCI in their someday! Preliminary JSON rendering draft, discussion material

Hi all, I won't be able to attend OGF in Lyon, too bad but that's how it is. Since I wouldn't want you to think I am sneaking away from all the hard work I put together a pre-pre-draft of a possible JSON rendering. I have commit'ed a json_rendering.tex file to the occi-wg repository and have attached the generated PDF. Please look at this document as a basis for further discussions. It is very far from being complete and lots of things could certainly be more elegant. Highlights are: - Filtering through query parameters. I.e. no need to use the X-OCCI-Attribute to transfer filtering info in GET requests. - Pagination of collections. - Attribute type information (e.g. float, integer, string, etc) relayed through the Category definition. The Storage Networking Industry Association's Cloud Storage Initiative (SNIA CSI) and the Open Grid Forum (OGF) are conducting the first in a series of international cloud plugfests slated for 2012. What: Cloud Plugfest sponsored by SNIA CSI/OGF When: February 28 through March 01, 2012 Where: Dusseldorf, DE (Primary Location) Who's invited? All cloud implementers are invited to participate either in person or remotely. Participants need not be members of the SNIA, CSI or OGF and the cost to attend is FREE!* Why attend? The cloud plugfest will offer a highly collaborative, vendor-neutral, environment for developers and vendors to perform interoperability testing of CDMI and OCCI implementations. OGF repository testing - participation invited

Hi all, We had to fix four successive problems that emerged in accessing the GridForge-hosted subversion repositories after the recent hosting move. (Note: the long-term plan is to change technologies underlying the forge, but for now the goal was to get things stable and complete in the new hosting location to which they have been moved.) I'd like to make sure that the current setup is working well before announcing the restoration of access to the full wg-all list. For hose of you who are used to using the repositories, the only change you shouold see is that we have moved to https access in place of plain text for all access, so you will have to change the repository location to https in place of http in your svn client, and as we are doing this with a self-signed certificate for now, you'll have to accept the cert either temporarily or permanently. We do plan to replace that certificate with an official commercial one shortly through a new arrangement with DigiCert. Please try this out and let us know if your testing helps uncover any so-far-unfound bugs. (Positive reports of successful results are also welcome!). Get IP address of new VM started with DHCP

Cheers, is there any way I can have OCCI start a new VM, assign it an IP address using DHCP and tell me (the program which sent the OCCI HTTP request to start a new machine) which address was chosen so that I can later connect to it? New cloud Interoperability testbed project on FutureGrid

Dear folks interested in cloud standards testing: I have proposed and the organizers have approved the following project in FutureGrid: "Cloud Interoperability Testbed:" https://portal.futuregrid.org/project/176 Description: The Cloud Interoperability Testbed will serve as a mechanism to host interoperability tests for different machine control, data transfer, resource reporting and usage agreement standards and implementations of other new standards efforts. The primary purpose will be to give developers an opportunity to try out implementations of code that implements either server or client functionality for the use of multiple standards from different standards development organizations. The initial effort for this project will be focused on implementations of the Open Cloud Computing Interface (OCCI) from the Open Grid Forum (OGF), Cloud Data Management Interface (CDMI) from the Storage Network Industry Association (SNIA), the Cloud Infrastructure Management Interface (CIMI) and the Open Virtualization Format (OVF) from the Distributed Management Task Force (DMTF). Other standards will be added as the project proceeds. Membership in this project is open to anyone working in the area of cross-compatibility of cloud-related standards. I have to approve membership as project manager and project lead, but it is my intent to approve all membership requests that are consistent with the above goals. Note this is NOT an OGF project, but is one in which OGF will participate, and is closely associated with the OGF Cloud Interoperability group and OGF/SNIA cloud plug-fest effort that is also open to DMTF members. The purpose of the FutureGrid project is simply to provide an easily accessed mechanism for obtaining access to virtual machines that can be used for testing various aspects of implementations of cloud standards protocols and clients. It is NOT necessary to reveal the inner workings of these implementations to other group members, although some wpirit of sharing information will obviously be of benefit to all group members.
