FW: Side-Meeting NORDUnet conference 2016
Hello All, Is there any interest in having an NSI meeting as part of the Nordunet conference this year? See below for dates. Guy From: Susanne Michelsen [mailto:SMI@nordu.net] Sent: 28 January 2016 12:15 To: Guy Roberts Subject: Side-Meeting NORDUnet conference 2016 Dear Guy During the NORDUnet conference in Uppsala in 2014 you hosted a side-meeting. For the upcoming 2016 conference in Helsinki on 20-22 September we would like to offer you the possibility of co-locating your meeting again, or perhaps you have a new team/project that you would like to gather for a meeting. We have worked around the conference programme, which is still under construction, and below you will find an overview of the timeslots that we can provide for you: * Monday 19 September – all day (day before the conference opens) * Wednesday 21 September – 14.00 - 17.30 (in parallel to conference sessions) * Thursday 22 September – 14.00 – 17.30 (after the official close of the conference) * Friday 23 September all day (day after the conference) Monday and Friday is not necessarily only for full day meetings, please also ask for half a day or a couple of hours, if that is what you require. You can read more about the conference at www.ndn2016.net<https://events.nordu.net/display/NDN2016/Welcome> If you would like to reserve some space please let me know your preferences in terms of timing and the approx number of participants that you anticipate. For planning purposes – especially if you prefer a timeslot during Wednesday -please let me have your input by March 1. Room rental and catering cost during the day will be courtesy NORDUnet. Hi Guy, I've spoken to Inder about this and the answer is yes (with the caveat that we will have to re-evaluate our travel budget as we get close to that date). I'd say lets just go ahead and plan for it. My preference is to have the NSI meeting ahead of the NORDUnet conference so we have the option to attend the conference talks, or schedule additional NSI meetings as necessary. Just a thought. - Chin Chin Guok NOC: (510) 486-7600 Network Engineer (800) 333-7638 ESnet Network Engineering Group (AS293) Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory On Thu, Jan 28, 2016 at 4:27 AM, Guy Roberts <Guy.Roberts@geant.org> wrote:

Yup, we (ESnet) couldn't justify the trip as a stand-alone NSI meeting. If we co-locate the NSI meeting with another R&E meeting (like what we are thinking with the NORDUnet conference), that might work. Maybe col-locate at another GENI meeting? If we want to do a stand-alone NSI meeting, I can ask if we (ESnet) can host it here in Berkeley. We just moved into a new snazzy building so that may not be a bad idea. If we want to pursue this, I can see if maybe the week of Apr 11 will work. Thoughts, suggestions? - Chin Chin Guok NOC: (510) 486-7600 Network Engineer (800) 333-7638 ESnet Network Engineering Group (AS293) Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory On Thu, Jan 28, 2016 at 12:37 PM, Guy Roberts <Guy.Roberts@geant.org> wrote:

Hi Chin, Colocating the NSI WG meeting with the NORDUnet conference is a good option, I also prefer to have the NSI meeting ahead of the conference. Otherwise maybe colocating with the Internet2 Technology Exchange (September 25-28) is an option? Whatever will be decided I appreciate the decision to made well in advance of the meeting.
