HiHi, The last couple of days we implemented the two new notification query operations in our UPA, BandwidthOnDemand. Doing this we had a few questions: * Sending a DataPlaneStateChange to the requester requires a notificationId. (A DataPlaneStateChangeRequestType extends a NotificationBaseType which has a notificationId.) Which suggests it is a notification that can be queried. When doing a notificationQuery the response (queryNotificationConfirmed) only contains errorEvent, reserveTimeout and messageDeliveryTimeout notifications. We expected it to contain DataPlaneStateChanges as well, because it is a notification (it extends NotificationBaseType). I understand that the data plan state can be queried with a querySummary but the history of provision/release can not. I would suggest to let queryNotification also return the data plane state change notifications. * In the pdf attached to issue 92 solution 2b says that the notificationId should be unique per NSA. Currently we implemented the connectionId to be unique per connection. I think this makes it easier to follow the notifications because there should be almost no gaps between the notification ids. Updated draft NSI CS v2.0

Hello All, An updated version of the NSI CS v2.0 draft is now available with the following changes: - Sections 1 through 5 have been updated to reflect the edits agreed in Maastricht - Section 7 now contains the NSI CS schema with latest updates by John to reflect discussion at Maastricht. Question about provision + release/terminate

Hi Lets say I try to provision a connection, and that I get an ack back from the first provider. Somwhere down the tree the request fails for some reason, could be data corruption, a connection that was adminstratively removed and the notifcation was lost, cosmic ray. Whatever. Alternative proposal for NSI sessions

Hi All, As you will be aware Tomohiro Kudoh proposed a 2 day meeting to discuss future extensions and functionality in NSI on Sep 30 - Oct 1 in Japan. The plan was to then travel to Singapore on Wed Oct 2 to arrive in time for the GLIF meeting on the Oct 3 -4. To reduce the amount of travel involved for some of the participants we are considering an option to hold the NSI meeting in Singapore on Oct 1-2. This will allow us to support preparations for the demonstrations at the GLIF meeting if needed. Francis Lee, Associate Professor at Nanyang Technological University, has offered us a room for Oct 1-2, I would like to gauge people preferences for choice of venue. Could you please email me with your thoughts on your preferred venue and we will arrange the meeting accordingly. Status: Accepted Owner: jmacauley Labels: Type-Defect Priority-Medium FoundInVersion-2.0 FixedInVersion-2.0 New issue 92 by jmacauley: The Maastricht updates - Introduction of Notification retrieval http://code.google.com/p/ogf-nsi-project/issues/detail?id=92 Description of Issue: During design of NSI CS version 2 the majority of error states were removed from the state machine and a new set of notifications were added to inform the uRA of issues with a reservation that did not directly effect the new state machine. Removing the majority of error states help simplify the state machine, and reduce the spontaneous state machine transitions previously triggered by error conditions. As a result of this new strategy, there is no way for a uRA to determine if an error notification was generated against a reservation if that uRA is not listening to notifications on that reservation. This situation may occur if the RA is using a polling mechanism, or is recovering from a communications problem with the peer provider NSA. As you can imagine, this is a serious issue that needs to be addressed before NSI CS version 2 can be declared ready for prime time. To help remedy this issue, it was agreed that a new mechanism should be added to the existing NSI CS version 2 protocol that will allow an RA to query a reservation and determine if there have been any error notifications raised against that reservation. Specifically, we need to allow for the handling of ErrorEventType, ReserveTimeoutRequestType, and messageDeliveryTimeout notifications as these will require corrective action from the uRA. The dataPlaneStateChange notification need not be handed as this state is modeled in the dataPlaneStatus element already available in the reservation query. Discussion of Issue: See attached discussion of issue. Resolution of Issue: A slightly modified solution 2b was agreed upon for implementation.
