Hello, After a period of inactivity, and an OGF where NML has no session, I'd like to pick up the pace again and set up a new teleconference. If I remember correctly, our usual spot was on Thursdays at UTC 16:00 = EST 11:00 = 8:00 PDT = 17:00 CET, which hopefully works out again after the daylight savings shift. Unless there are any major objections, I'm setting up a new call on the 7th of April. Agenda for that call is starting to write on the schema document. The schema diagram has been fixed now for quite some time without any major objections, so I'd like to start writing this finally and hopefully get a first draft finished by next OGF. Jeroen.

Cees de Laat was kind enough to present an outreach session.

Agreed. FYI, I still expect some input from the NMC group (see action items at https://forge.gridforum.org/sf/wiki/do/viewPage/projects.nmc-wg/wiki/2011030...); Romand and Aaron are working on a design document, which uses concepts based on NML. Since this is an actual use of NML, I'm personally excited about it, and hope they can mail to the NML group what they're doing. For what I understand, the model seems to work for them, so I don't expect much changes, but it may help for some refinements. Regards, Freek

Jeroen, I started writing an NML schema based on the example xml while in HK. Schedule and writing the NSI schema has kept me busy so I have not advanced it much since then. Let me dig up what I have so far and we can discuss sometime the next two days. Notes of the conference call and action points at the bottom. Any comments or additions are welcome. Jeroen. Attending were: Guy Roberts, Freek Dijkstra, Aaron Brown, Martin Swany, Gigi Karmous-Edwards, and Jeroen van der Ham. NML is ramping up again after a short period of inactivity. There has been an outreach session in Taipei presented by Cees de Laat, with about 6 people listening. Jeroen notes that it seems time to pick up writing of the schema document again, because it seems we have "violent agreement" on the schema diagram right now (attached). Freek will write the identifiers section. He proposes to write some standard stuff on how to compare them, what namespace of OGF to use, etc. Martin worries that it should not get too specific to stir up discussion in GENI, GLIF or other groups. Jeroen will start reviewing and updating the schema section of the document and then pass it to Martin. The examples section could be written using the examples that Jason and Jeroen used on the mailinglist some time back. [Update: these were committed to a repository some time back: http://forge.ogf.org/integration/viewcvs/viewcvs.cgi/?root=nml-examples&system=exsy1001 ] Freek informs about the work John MacAuley has been doing, Freek received some questions about using NML in WSDLs. Guy mentions that John has been working hard on implementing NSI in WSDL. Jeroen notes that there is an Automated GOLE demonstration in GLIF where he is now pushing a very simplified version of NML using a graphical editor. This should spark some interest in GOLE operators about the usefulness of topology exchange. Hopefully this leads to more implementation and feedback to NML. Guy mentions that there is also work in GEANT on a GUI for topology descriptions, which he will send to the list. Action Points: - Freek will finish a draft of the identifiers section in 4 weeks. - Jeroen will review the schema section and update it. - Jeroen will dig up the topology examples again - Aaron will review the XML version to see if it still fits with their work - Guy will send info the list on GEANT topology editting. Peoples, I was just cleaning up my draft NML XSD that I started on the flight to the Hong Kong when I ran into a slight problem. I had a few XML instance documents created by the group that I have been using to build the XSD, but unfortunately, they all seem to be a bit different in layout. Is there a specific XML document that is the update example? At the moment I have model.xml, serial_compound.xml, and segment-descriptor.xml. Thank you for the pointer. Once I get the correct version I will finish this off and send it to Jeroen. John. On 2011-04-07, at 11:37 AM, Jeroen van der Ham wrote:

Hi John, I'm sending you an example of segment descriptor which may help you. What's the current status of your work on xsd file(s)? Could you send what you have at the moment? thanks, Roman W dniu 2011-04-07 23:33, John MacAuley pisze:

Jeroen, The cNIS project has a GUI tool that allows a topology to be manually entered. The leader of this task is Maciej Łabędzki (labedzki@man.poznan.pl) SA2 T5, subtask cNIS: An integrated network topology repository, that manages IP, Ethernet and SDH data within a single administrative domain. http://cnis.geant.net/ Guy -----Original Message----- From: nml-wg-bounces@ogf.org [mailto:nml-wg-bounces@ogf.org] On Behalf Of Jeroen van der Ham Sent: 28 March 2011 10:15 To: NML-WG Subject: [Nml-wg] Conference Call Hello, After a period of inactivity, and an OGF where NML has no session, I'd like to pick up the pace again and set up a new teleconference.
