Dear ALL Mark beat me to it! I think it would be most worthwhile to have a face to face at GGF17 and I would like to encourage folks to attend. As we have made much progress with the version 2 Schemata I think it is important to maintain progress and keep the visibility high. It would be very good if GGF17 acted as a focus to prepare for the release. My suggestion would be to have a focus meeting (maybe 1/2 to 2/3 of a day) to go over the schemata and their release in some detail followed by a standard NM-WG session. I will contact Mark about restarting our phone calls as preparation. Look forward to seeing you at GGF17 Regards Richard Hughes-Jones Tel: +44 (0) 161 275 4117 Fax: +44 (0) 161 273 0480 Web: www.hep.man.ac.uk/~rich

Hi folks,
The next GGF...
GGF17: May 10-12th 2006 in Tokyo
...is sneaking up on us. So much so that we need to decide by *Friday* whether we'd like to hold any NM-WG sessions.
My personal opinion, and one that I think will be shared by others in the group, is that we're not at a stage where we want or need a face-to-face meeting. If anything, more phonecalls would be better. However, like last year's South Korea GGF, we may want to keep NM-WG visible, and present our work in Asia-Pac to encourage participation from that region, especially since we've made a lot of progress with the V2 schemas and have some software (e.g. perfSONAR) as a demonstrator. If people see value in this, then it's likely that I can attend GGF. Alternatively, you may want us to wait until things are "bulletproof" and really ready for release. I'm open to suggestions!
The following GGF will be the second "GridWorld" (the result of another team-up with IDG World Expo and GlobusWorld) in Washington DC, September 11-14th.
Can you please let me have your thoughts asap (cc'd to the list) so we can reach a consensus by Friday, which is also the deadline for requesting sessions?
Hope everyone and everything is good. We'll have a call as soon as I get around to arranging one :)
Mark.
