Dear All, just to note that the deadline for paper submissions to LSGrid2007 has been extended to 13th July. This is a final extension. See website below for details on submission etc. Regards and thanks in advance, Rich ________________________________ From: Richard Sinnott Sent: 02 April 2007 12:56 To: 'lsg-rg@ggf.org' Subject: LSGrid2007 call for papers [We apologize if you receive multiple copies of this message] ---------------------------------------------------- CALL FOR PAPERS Fourth International Conference on Life Science Grids (LSGrid2007) (http://www.nesc.ac.uk/events/lsgrid2007/ <http://www.nesc.ac.uk/events/lsgrid2007/> ) 6-7th September 2007, National e-Science Centre, University of Glasgow, Scotland Area and Scope The post-genome era holds much promise. In-silico scientific research can allow for identification of new drugs, personalized e-Health, multi-scale models of complete organisms through to complete population studies. Essential to the realization of this vision is the infrastructure needed to support inter-disciplinary research, in particular in overcoming the data deluge associated with the life sciences. These data sets are growing exponentially, often have radically different characteristics, are maintained by different groups and bodies, and are perpetually evolving. In this context, the development of an infrastructure that allows to access, use, and analyze such changing and growing amounts of data is both technically challenging, offers huge benefits to the scientific community and is potentially extremely viable commercially. The Grid represents one way in which such an infrastructure can be developed and supported, providing seamless access to computational and data resources. This conference builds on several previous international workshops and provides a focus on all aspects related to the application of Grid technologies to the challenges facing the life science community. Topics The program committee welcomes the submission of original manuscripts addressing the problem of Grid Systems for Life Sciences. Authors should report relevant experiences, present novel approaches to existing problems and describe and raise issues that must be overcome to facilitate Grid-based Life Science e-Research. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: * Experiences applying Grid technologies in the life sciences * Computational and data Grid architectures for the life sciences * Security of clinical and life science data sets including experiences in ethics and information governance * Usability of Grid based life science systems * Interoperability of Grid systems to support life science research * Grid based data access and integration of life science data sets * Applications and case studies on using the Grid in the life science domain * Computational workflows to support life science research processes * Grid based drug discovery and pharmacogenomics * Experiences accessing and using clinical data sets within and between organisations * Grid based clinical trials and epidemiological studies * Grid based longitudinal studies * Development and usage of ontologies for the life sciences * Semantic Grid approaches for the life sciences Paper Submission Authors are invited to submit original and unpublished work. Papers should not exceed 10 single-spaced pages on A4 paper size, using at least 1 inch margins and 12-point font. Authors should submit a PDF or PostScript file that will print on a PostScript printer. Electronic submission through the symposium website (www.lsgrid.org/2007) is strongly encouraged. Submission implies the willingness of at least one of the authors to register and present the paper. Important Dates * Submission deadline of Abstracts for posters/demonstration (15th June 2007) (800 words) * Submission deadline of Papers (29th June 2007) (up to 10 pages). * Notification of Acceptance (20th July 2007) * Submission of Camera Ready Version of Paper (3rd August 2007) Program Chair Professor Richard Sinnott National e-Science Centre, Glasgow, UK Note that this conference will take place the week after the Braemar Highland Games (http://www.braemargathering.org/) in Scotland and the week before the UK e-Science All Hands Meeting (http://www.allhands.org.uk/) in Nottingham, for those wishing to have more than one reason to be in the UK at this time!
