Since the last update of the seven answers in early February, there has not exactly been the flurry of activity on the LoA-RG. I don't think there is a huge gap between the answers and what needs to be done to complete a charter, but it does need to be written down in the proper format and be discussed on the LoA BoF mailing list so that we as ADs can formally propose the group and get it approved. We can then spend the time in Manchester also for topic discussions on the documents instead of discussing only the charter.
For the charter, the following pieces are still needed (drafts can be extracted from the answers to the 7 questions): - Brief Group Summary (public description for print and web site) - Group Focus & Scope (2-4 paragraphs) - Exit Strategy
And for each deliverable: - title - Abstract: (very brief) - document type
May I propose that the chairs and/or document authors trigger this discussion on the LoA BoF mailing list? (note that it must be on the list to allow public participation, but it's better to come with a first draft so as to focus the mail discussion).
The Wiki page at:
https://forge.gridforum.org/sf/wiki/do/viewPage/projects.sec/wiki/LoAInitiat... has Ning's updated version of the seven questions as an attachment, which can serve as a basis for the charter discussion.
Best, and thanks a lot, DavidG.

This looks pretty good overall. I just have a few suggestions. 1. Remove 'access control' from the last sentence of the first paragraph. Access control is typically used as a general term encompassing authN, authZ, and auditing. So listing it as a peer of these concepts is strange. 2. In Section 2, you need to add expected milestone dates for the proposed deliverables that align with the information on the OGF living charter form. These are 'First Draft'. 'Public Comment', and 'Publication'. 3. In the first paragraph under "Scope of the Group", it says "indirect transmission of assertions (through services or delegation)". This is the first time the term 'assertion' is used. I suggest you relate it back to the concepts in the summary material. Perhaps use wording such as "authentication assertion" or "authentication security token". Also, "services" and "delegation" aren't comparable terms. Perhaps use "through services or user proxies". Regards, Blair

Hello Blair + all, Many thanks for your comments. The attached is the revised version. (1) Michael (MH), as you are the editor of Document 1, may I ask you to suggest the milestone dates for this doc? (2) for Document 2, I have suggested: 30 May 2007 for the first draft; --- soon after OGF20. 30 July for public comment; 30 Nov for publication. ---- set deliberately after OGF21 to allow feedbacks, etc. Are these milestone dates reasonable?
