Parameter Sweep and BES Factory

Hi! I'm just wondering -- is there any agreed view on how Parameter Sweep Extension should interact with BES Factory job submission? My main concern is whether the submission should return an activity that hides all those individual tasks that the parameter sweep produced (say, 1000 jobs from one JSDL...) or should it be possible to somehow treat them individually? The problem with the former is that it would only be possible to get a some kind of heuristic view of the state of the activity (say, the activity is in running state if at least one of the individual tasks has moved to this state). The problem with the later is, in my understanding, the fact that the CreateActivity yields one and only one ActivityIdentifier. -- Piotr Domagalski

OGF24 sessions

General session Update on various items that should be in (or finishing) public comment by that time, such as the parameter sweep, experience document, jsdl recommendation etc. Discuss potential new work items. 2. Parameter Sweep spec - new draft

Folks, I updated the Parameter Sweep specification draft according to the artefact assigned to me: - The Parameter element is now abstract - A default "DocumentNode" substitute has been defined with the semantics of the previous, non-abstract Parameter element - heavily revised the document text - Added Geoff as document author (please complete your contact details!) Release of GridWay 5.4

Dear all, On behalf of the GridWay team, I am pleased to announce that a new stable release of the GridWay Metascheduler is now available for download. Users who wish to receive the latest bug fixes are encouraged to install this release. This version is also shipped with the newly released Globus Toolkit 4.2.0. New to this release are the new DRMAA bindings for scripting languages (perl, ruby,python). Thanks for your support! Tino. ================================================ GridWay 5.4 ================================================ ENHANCEMENTS: This stable release is based on the previous development release, GridWay 5.3, which has been thoroughly tested and documented. - Integration with major Grid Infrastructures Following the trend from previous releases, GridWay 5.4 is capable of integrate with another major infrastructure: NorduGrid. Drivers for Execution and Transfer are included in this release. - New DRMAA bindings for scripting languages Previous GridWay releases come with support for C and Java bindings implementing the DRMAA standard. GridWay 5.4 includes bindings to access the DRMAA standard from scripting languages such as Perl, Ruby and Python. Scripting languages are interesting from the point of view of rapid application prototyping among others. - Implementation of DRMAA Java Binding v1.0 GridWay now provides support for DRMAA Java Binding v1.0. DRAMAA Java bindings are also included to support legacy applications. - Support for DAGMAN workflows There is an increasing interest from the scientific community to be able to run complex workflows on a Grid environment. An almost de- facto standard to represent DAG workflows is Condor DAGMAN. In this release, GridWay includes a new workflow launcher (gwdag) that handles this kind of workflows.
