Dear ISOD members, We got confirmation that the ISOD Research Group will be established in the OGF Infrastructure Area. So, we can plan our first meeting at OGF31. I know that OGF31 location will affect attendance from US and Europe but I think that we need to hold a meeting there, in particular to present our area of research and standardisation to the local R&D community and get their feedback. OGF31 is collocated with ISGC 2011 (International Symposium on Grids and Clouds 2011). I also hope on contribution from the active ISOD BoF/RG members. The updated ISOD-RG session request and initial draft agenda are enclosed below. Please comments and provide your suggestions. Besides a formal session to discuss the charter and plan our work, we will have a session for projects and activities update and also for open discussion on the topics that are in the scope of the RG. The ISOD-RG will proceeds with defining its scope, major work items focusing on investigation of the existing practices in the on-demand provisioning of combined network and IT infrastructure resources. The ISOD-RG will intend to leverage work done in the currently existing and concluded OGF working groups and other standardisation bodies to provide recommendation about developing a new generalised architecture and framework for dynamically provisioned virtualised services. The scope of the ISOD-RG will also include investigation of the possible architecture frameworks for the Cloud Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) provisioning model. ISOD-RG meeting will have 2 sessions. First session will we be devoted to the ISOD-RG charter discussion, second session will host presentations devoted to the technical discussions of the planned deliverables and existing practices and solutions. As this is the first our communication in a new year, I would like to wish you success in your research and development and also new projects and new challenges!
We are going to request a session for ISOD meeting should it be BoF or RG meeting.
The fact that OGF31 will be collocated with the International Symposium on Grids and Clouds organised by Academia Sinica, Taiwan, will attract a number of visitors from the region, and we should not miss this opportunity to present our developments and possibly find cooperative links.
I also invite suggestions on the specific topics to discuss and presentation on on-going works and projects dealing with on-demand infrastructure services provisioning.
Just FYI, I know that special session on Cloud Security has been requested at OGF31 where we may also need to present our work on ISOD.
In the course of preparation to the meeting I would like to ask all members of the ISOD mailing list to post progress information on the involved and related projects.
