Dear Sirs I have two queries: A Legal The management company of a block of flats (in which my mother-in-law lives) has been told, following an injury claim, that for health and safety reasons the glass in the fully-glazed doors and sidelights must be changed. The management company claims that the GGF told them that the relevant section of the legislation is the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 (Reg 14), to be read in conjunction with BS 6262-4. I have just looked up the MHSW Regs 1999 and Reg 14 concerns employees' duties. I confess I can't quite see the immediate relevance of that to the management company's putative obligation to change the glass. Can you help, please. B Technical If health and safety legislation does indeed require the glass to be made more secure, I understand there are two options: 1.. reglaze in accordance with an accepted standard 2.. fit protective film to the existing glass Re 1. can you please email to me the title of the accepted standard and the precise requirements. Re 2. can you please give me details of such films, eg a supplier's website. Many thanks. Mike Gardner Administrator Dept of Physical & Theoretical Chemistry University of Oxford tel: 01865 275411
