Dear all,

Following the two reliability and robustness workshops held in Athens (GGF16
in February, 2006) and Chapel Hill (OGF19 in February, 2007), I have put
together a draft informational document which summarizes the state of current
work on Grid system reliability and describes requirements
for capabilities needed to
ensure high levels of reliability in current and future large-scale grid systems. This
document is intended to evolve into a primary output of the OGF Reliability and
Robustness Research Group (RG). The draft summarizes work presented at the
two workshops and includes a substantial amount of additional work that many of us
have identified as being relevant.

The draft is posted on the RG grid forge web site* or can be obtained from me upon
request.  Please review the document and comment as you deem appropriate.  It may
also be that you can find omissions or areas of relevant work that should be included
(that perhaps you may wish to contribute).

There will be a meeting of the Reliability RG at OGF21, at which the main purpose
will be to discus the status of the document. If you can attend, please do. If not, please
feel free to send email to the reflector.

Hope to hear from all of you,

Sincerely,
Chris Dabrowski.
