Roadmap for OGSA Published GGF recently published the latest contribution from the Open Grid Services Architecture Working Group (OGSA-WG) entitled "Defining the Grid: A Roadmap for OGSA(tm) Standards" (GFD.53). This document provides answers to a number of questions being asked both inside the GGF community and in the broader distributed computing industry including: What are the detailed delivery schedules for OGSA and OGSA-related specifications? What are the dependencies between OGSA specifications and other standards such as key web-services specifications? What is the relationship between the OGSA process, OGSA specifications and profiles, and OGSA software? What does the OGSA brand mean and how are OGSA conformance and compliance measured? What open-source software projects are committed to implementing OGSA standards? The document and other recently published documents may be found at: http://www.ggf.org/ggf_docs_final.htm. 2. 15 Documents in Public Comment 2005 has been an incredibly productive year for GGF as is evidenced by the number of documents currently in public comment. Nine different GGF groups have submitted 15 documents to the GGF Editor and the GGF Steering Group has given initial release to gain comments from the broader community. A look ahead at GGF Events in 2006 True to its "global" reach, GGF will hold major events in Europe, Asia, and North America next year. From February 13-16, GGF will gather in Athens, Greece for its sixteenth event emphasizing the standards development activities of the forum. This event is being hosted by the Greek Research and Technology Network (GRNET) and will include community and regional updates on grid activities in Greece and across Europe. Just three months later, GGF will again gather in Tokyo, Japan for GGF17, co-located with the Grid World Expo. From May 9-12, GGF groups will meet and a Community Program will be presented. GGF participants can also attend the Grid World exhibit hall and program. Finally, on September 10-14, GGF will team with IDG World Expo and GlobusWORLD to hold its second GridWorld event. This event, tentatively planned for a Washington DC venue, will host GGF standards activities, its growing technical community program, and an enterprise-focused program. 4. GGF Sponsors Management Developers Conference As part of its continued collaborative efforts with other standards bodies, GGF has joined DMTF, SNIA, The Open Group, and a number of other organizations to support the Management Developers Conference in Santa Clara, CA on December 5-8, 2005. The schedule is full of content of interest to many grid enthusiasts such as CIM, WSDM Mapping to CIM, WS-Management, and SMI. The four tracks of the program include Server Management, Network/Telco, Developer, and "DMTF Newbie." For more information, visit: http://mandevcon.com/index.html.
