Don't forget the phone conference today at 16:00 CET. A daft agenda is available on the wiki. http://forge.gridforum.org/sf/wiki/do/viewPage/projects.glue-wg/wiki/PhoneMe... Laurence

Actually it is at 16:30 CET as it is stated in the Wiki. :) On Mon, May 18, 2009 at 11:44 AM, Laurence Field <Laurence.Field@cern.ch>wrote:

Hi, this is the example XSD: http://forge.ogf.org/integration/viewcvs/viewcvs.cgi/XSD/trunk/examples/BES-Example.xml?root=glue&rev=14&system=exsy1001&view=markup and the rest of the examples. Yet to be updated to the GLUE 2.0 final. Cheers, Sergio On 18/mag/09, at 15:58, David Horat wrote:

Pretty silly indeed! :-)

Even when I am logged in, the Wiki does not show an edit button, so it seems I cannot upload the minutes attached to this message. Please send corrections as needed. Thanks, Maarten

The minutes have been added to the wiki Maarten.Litmaath@cern.ch wrote:

As we have already, I propose to hold next conference on Tuesday 26th at 16:00 CET unless someone has problems with that concrete date/time. I have already cleaned up the wiki homepage from obsolete information about the LDAP and SQL(relational) implementation. For the meeting to be useful I think we at least need a concrete proposal for the LDAP DIT. Apart from a picture I'd like to have an example DN for every type of object. Stephen -- Scanned by iCritical.

Laurence is working on that. :) On Tue, May 19, 2009 at 11:35 AM, Burke, S (Stephen) < stephen.burke@stfc.ac.uk> wrote:

A comment rather than a correction, on the question of parent/child relations ... logically it seems to me that the only thing for Resource which comes close to such a relation would be that Share is a child of Resource, given that it's the Resource of which the Share is a share (IYSWIM). However, that can't be represented in a tree since it's a *-* relation, and anyway doesn't help in placing Resource itself. The same kind of thing applies to Activity, since it represents some kind of interaction with the Resource. In that case the relation is 1-* but that probably doesn't help much ... (actually that doesn't seem entirely consistent, the table for Activity says that Resource is 0..1, but the diagram has *.) And of course Resource is supposed to be optional. We may also encounter a bit of a problem with Contact and Location as written. Contact is *-* with both Service and Domain, and both of those are *-1 with Location ... so if anything, Service and Domain are children of Location! Stephen -- Scanned by iCritical.

Thinking a bit more, I think the diagram is right and the table is wrong, e.g. consider an MPI job which might be running in more than one ExecutionEnvironment. Stephen -- Scanned by iCritical.

... and while I'm looking for problems with these relations, the Manager table says Resource.ID <
> 1..* A manager manages zero or more resources. where the multiplicity should be 0..* (you may just want to publish a Manager to advertise what software is installed). Similarly for Resource we have: Manager.ID <
> 1 A resource is managed by a manager. This is maybe related to the idea that Resource is supposed to be a child of Manager. However, I don't really see why it shouldn't be allowed to publish Share and Resource but not Manager. Fundamentally the Resource (hardware) and Manager (software) descriptions are peers, neither is dependent on the other so I think it should be possible to publish either one without the other.
