VOTE by 7/31: GLUE 2.0 LDAP Rendering release for public comment

GLUE Working Group: As agreed to at OGF 41. By July 31, please review the following document and reply with a vote to APPROVE or REJECT to release for public comment. http://redmine.ogf.org/dmsf_files/13302?download= If you vote to REJECT, please summarize your concerns. If you have minor editorial corrections or improvements, please reply and attach your change tracked edits and appending your initial to the file-name. Regards, JP and Shahbaz

APPROVE minor comments: - introduction should be justified (not left aligned) - some tables are very wide - please add email contacts for those authors who will accept comments and questions. In principle the WG mailing list suffices, but most docuemnts include addresses for some authors, too. Cheers, Andre. On Wed, Jul 23, 2014 at 5:00 PM, JP Navarro <navarro@mcs.anl.gov> wrote:

REJECT. Reason: I think some of the comments from Stephen require a fix before submitting the doc. Thanks Stephen for the nice corrections in the text. Major comments (MUST fix before approval): - LDAP Schema should be in an Appendix B, and not copy pasted after Appendix A. Otherwise is very misleading; the reader might thing that the schema is community specific, but is not. We put a lot of energy in keeping it generic enough. - Appendix A might require references to documents/websites as pointed out by Stephen. I think this makes it a serious document. Please Stephen or Maria, David provide references for gLite and GOCDB where comments from Stephen point it out. I can provide references to such documents for ARC: Page 16, Appendix A, paragraph 1: ARC (http://www.nordugrid.org/arc) minor comments (not preventing approval): - Page 10, section 3.7, the sentence "For example, a <strike>GLUE2</strike>ComputingEndpoint entry..." I noticed that GLUE2 has been removed. However an "entry" is an LDAP entry for me, and that's why I kept the GLUE2 prefix. Since is written in Italic, that should be a model /Entity/. There is no major problem leaving it like that. The document does not define any typesetting for LDAP entries. A more complete sentence would be: " For example, a ComputingEndpoint entity would be realised as an LDAP GLUE2ComputingEndpoint entry that consists of..." - Page 17, bullet 2), typo: there is an R at the beginning of a paragraph that should be removed. I noticed that GLUE2 has been removed. However an "entry" is an LDAP entry for me, and that's why I kept the GLUE2 prefix.
The problem is that an LDAP entry is composed from several object classes, so giving it the name of one of them is a bit ambiguous. What we mean there is something like "an entry which corresponds to the ComputingEndpoint entity", but it doesn't really have a name of its own. Stephen -- Scanned by iCritical.

Dear Florido,
- Appendix A might require references to documents/websites as pointed out by Stephen. I think this makes it a serious document. Please Stephen or Maria, David provide references for gLite and GOCDB where comments from Stephen point it out.
What references are needed? gLite as such doesn´t exist anymore. Each development team maintains their own documentation for the service they are developing. Regards, Maria

Hi Maria, It is up to you to decide what to reference. I recall there was a nice document/page you circulated with information about BDII. If you think this is not needed, we just don't reference anything. The Appendix itself describes the hierarchical structure of BDII tree. Probably the general web page: http://gridinfo.web.cern.ch/ is best - it should have everything else linked from it. Stephen

ACCEPT Thanks for this work JP. However, it would be nice if you can fix these: - Page 10, section 3.7, the sentence "For example, a <strike>GLUE2</strike>ComputingEndpoint entry..." I noticed that GLUE2 has been removed. However an "entry" is an LDAP entry for me, and that's why I kept the GLUE2 prefix. Since is written in Italic, that should be a model /Entity/. There is no major problem leaving it like that. The document does not define any typesetting for LDAP entries. Page 16, reference [gLite] should be http://gridinfo.web.cern.ch/ - Page 17, bullet 2), typo: there is an R at the beginning of a paragraph that should be removed. I also would like to ask the group if it is ok to merge the changes in git-hub to the master branch. The current situation is that the LDAP schema we included in the document is part of a development branch: https://github.com/OGF-GLUE/LDAP/tree/EMIrevision should be merged into the master (offcial) branch https://github.com/OGF-GLUE/LDAP/tree/master If the documents gets green light then I will do the merge.
