2005 NSF CISE/CNS Infrastructure Experience Workshops

Dear All - here is an interesting Call for you, here @UIUC, in IL - Thanks! Admela ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -------------------------------- Call For Participation 2005 NSF CISE/CNS Infrastructure Experience Workshops Siebel Center for Computer Science Urbana, Illinois July 27, 2005 We would like to invite you to participate in the NSF Infrastructure Experience Workshops. The NSF Infrastructure Experience Workshops are organized in two areas: 1. NSF Infrastructure Experiences in Pervasive Computing (http://www.cs.uiuc.edu/events/expwork-2005/pervasive) 2. NSF Infrastructure Experiences in Cluster Computing (http://www.cs.uiuc.edu/events/expwork-2005/cluster) The goal of these workshops is for the PIs of NSF CISE Infrastructures and other researchers who have or are considering -establishing Infrastructures in the area of Pervasive Computing and Cluster Computing to -come together to exchange (a) experiences about their lessons learned/failures, (b) experiences about unexpected/pleasant surprises, (c) best buy practices of equipment, (d) demonstrations of neat engineering solutions that came out of the NSF CISE Infrastructure, (e) creation of experience portals in these areas, and other experiences. The interested participants should register online at the joint workshops web site: http://www.cs.uiuc.edu/events/expwork-2005 by July 8, 2005. The deadline for hotel reservations is July 3, 2005 (see workshops web site for travel arrangements). Call for Extended Abstracts The attendees of the NSF-funded Infrastructure Experience Workshops on both Cluster Computing and Pervasive Computing are encouraged to submit two page extended abstracts reporting on one of the following topics: · lessons learned/ failures/problem experiences with cluster computing or building pervasive environments/smart rooms · unexpected/pleasant surprises and experiences with establishing the infrastructure · best buying practices and establishing relationships with vendors Submission Guidelines · The deadline for the abstract submissions is July 15, 2005. · Submitted abstracts must be in electronic PDF format. · The format of the extended abstracts should be: 2 pages, double column, ACM-style format, 10pt font or larger. The abstracts will be published in proceedings distributed to participants of the workshop and also posted into the experience workshop portal that will be accessible throughout the year by the academic community. All submissions should be emailed to abstracts@cs.uiuc.edu. Please include Pervasive Computing Workshop Abstract or Cluster Computing Workshop Abstract in the Subject of the email.
