Could you please broadcast this offer? Thanks a lot - Pascale
Post Doctoral Researcher in High Speed Protocols and Grid networking at Lyon(France)
The INRIA/LIP laboratory and CCIN2p3 are seeking qualified candidates for a post doctoral position in High Speed Protocols and Grid networking.
The High Speed and Grid networking RESO INRIA research team at the LIP laboratory is currently focusing on the design and analysis of protocols, algorithms and software for efficient communications in high speed networks of Grids. The present proposition concerns a project funded by the french national Reasearch Agency (ANR) focusing on Very High throughput in Long Distance Bulk Data Transfer in High Energy Physics Grid (LCG project) context
The research is performed in close collaboration with the computing center of the IN2P3 (Lyon), FERMILAB and RENATER. IN2P3 is the Institut National de Physique Nucleaire et de Physique des Particules. RENATER is the national network infrastructure for Research and education.
The candidate should have earned a PhD in an area relevant for this research, and have documented experience in protocol implementation, evaluation and experimentation and system software development using state-of-the-art tools and techniques. The appointment is for a period of one year, with possibility for renewal.
The application should include a Curriculum vitae, copies of degree certificates, relevant publications, and a motivation letter.
*Abstract* Packet switched and optical transmission networks are potential candidates for extending today’s IP- based best- effort service environment. GRID applications can be viewed as an excellent example for emerging usage scenarios future high performance networking infrastructures have to face with. However, the scientific applications that really need it, are not able to fully exploit these networking capacities. The main goal of this work is to explore, identify, diagnose and correct performance boottlenecks in the context of 1Gb/s and 10Gb/s very long distance networks of the LHC project. The PostDoc will concentrate on flows interactions but also network/IO interactions in this context. As the 10Gb/ s technology is rapidly coming to our labs and to grid environments running high end scientific applications, it is necessary to examine carefully this problem. Disk to disk aspects and data transfer scheduling solutions will be analysed and experimented. New optimisations in conjunction with new high speed transport protocol variants will be proposed and evaluated.
This work will be done at the IN2P3 lab, in collaboration with INRIA RESO team, RENATER, Fermilab and in the context of the ANR IGTMD project. For further information, please contact Pascale.Primet@ens-lyon.fr
Your complete application (CV, papers, motivation letter, references), zipped and marked with reference IGTMD-postdoc should be sent to Pascale.Primet@ens-lyon.fr
