Dear all in EGR-RG. Apologies for being absent for two months. I had been extremely busy (including work on weekends..) I am trying to recover from the pace and will try to put more effort into egr-rg as well. Hiro thanks for the OGSA template. As we discussed in the GGF12, we would need to collect the Usecases. Ravi: in GGF12 I think you mentioned posting the questionnair to all the relevant GGF-{WR}gs. Could you please do so? Best regards Toshi Hiro Kishimoto wrote:
Hi Ravi,
The template you attached is based on the old draft of the OGSA v1 document and is now obsolete. Please use the attached one instead. It is based on the latest OGSA document (019).
It is also download form gridForge. https://forge.gridforum.org/docman2/ViewProperties.php?group_id=42&category_id=3 51&document_content_id=2599

Hi Chris/SAGA/OGSA/EGR,
The entire use case collection and collation seems to be task that all the respective groups see as important. The Enterprise Grid Requirements (Research Group), that I co-chair, is chartered with putting together just this set of use-cases and requirements for aspects of the Grid.
It has been decided between OGSA stakeholders and EGR stakeholders that the OGSA use case document will be migrated into the EGR and will be managed as a driver for more groups than just the OGSA. So it would be helpful if EGR could get access to the templates that the respective WGs would like and then try to create a master template that would help capture requirements for the space.
I agree that this can take time and most xGs may not be able to wait till this process is completed. So as a start, please copy the EGR on all the use-cases. We will be using the OGSA use-case template as the starting template but from the template that Chris sent out I see that the OGSA template may not address all the SAGA needs, so please submit your use cases in a template by the WG/RG that is the primary target of your usecase and copy the egr-rg maillist (and/or ravi.subramaniam@intel.com; satoshi.itoh@aist.go.jp; t-nakata@cw.jp.nec.com). We will work to pull all the material together to help the GGF community.
I am attaching the SAGA template (that Chris sent out) and the OGSA template for benefit of the EGR members and others. If others have access to other templates from WG/RGs not mentioned here please send to me, Satoshi or Toshi (see earlier for email addresses).
Thanks!
Ravi

Hi all,
I have taken upon myself the role of liaison between the OGSA working group and the SAGA research group within GGF. My first task (other than just introducing myself) is to forward the call for use cases of Grid deployments from which the elements of an API can be drawn.
As OGSA has already spent a lot of time producing a document of use cases, the SAGA group thought that this would be a good source for the API. So I'd like to call on contributors to OGSA use cases to provide these use cases to SAGA as well.
Since a lot of work was probably done to put these into the OGSA document in the first place, I would suggest using the SAGA use case template (which I've attached) to point to a page number in the OGSA use case document (no need to reproduce already written text), and perhaps fill out bits of the template which are SAGA specific (e.g. questions about what an API might look like to you, etc) if you wish.
Thanks,
-- Chris
-------------------------------------------------------------------- Guidance Notes: ===============
This is a template for providing use cases to the GGF "Simple API for Grid Applications" research group (SAGA-RG); these use cases will be used to determine required functionality which must be supported by the resulting SAGA-API specification, and to provide guidance to implementors of the API. We have kept these two features in mind while creating this template.
All sections apart from use case name and the description of the use case itself (3) may be considered optional.
If the use case is complex, we would appreciate efforts to split into sub-scenarios where possible, for example in the use case description (3) and in the descriptions of customers (4) and resources (5).
In each section we have tried to provide suggestions of questions to try to answer.
Please send the use cases to
, or if you want to submit anonymously for any reason, send directly to one of the group chairs or secretaries (see http://www.gridforge.org/). --------------------------------------------------------------------
