DRMAA Python Binding - Final Draft
Dear all, this is the final draft of the official DRMAA Python binding, developed with the help of Enrico and Martin. I would like to thank both guys for the intense and detailled discussion, the result looks pretty nice. In first place, this document is the working group's response to the large interest in DRMAA Python. Enrico will try to adopt his implementation according to this 'official' binding. If you are also interested in such a library, please support him. For the WG members: The document is also intended to show how an IDL- spec based language binding can look like. 8 pages of pure language- related discussion. There is no repetition of facts already discussed in GFD-130. The final discussion of this document will take place on the next conf call. After that, I will submit it to the editors. Best regards, Peter.

This looks like a great piece of work. It is great to see the IDL specification being taken forward into a 'real' binding. How many implementations do you have that will be adopting this specification? Steven
Hi Steven, thanks for the feedback.
How many implementations do you have that will be adopting this specification?
There was one preliminary implementation by Enrico Sirola, which is about to be changed to the "official" API. Since it relies on DRMAA C, it might remain the only DRMAA Python implementation for some time. The experience with Java DRMAA shows that more (DRM-specific) implementations need some time to show up. We got some initial announcements for more Python implementations, but it is too early to promise something. Best regards, Peter.
