Reminder: DFDL Workgroup Call this week: Thursday Jan 13. 11:00 - 12:00 EST.US (UTC-5)

Draft agenda here: https://github.com/OpenGridForum/DFDL/blob/master/calls/2025/2025-02-13_DFDL... Mike Beckerle Apache Daffodil PMC | daffodil.apache.org OGF DFDL Workgroup Co-Chair | www.ogf.org/ogf/doku.php/standards/dfdl/dfdl Owl Cyber Defense | www.owlcyberdefense.com

On the DFDL Workgroup Call today we decided to make more use of github issues and eliminate the effort of "action item" tracking in the call agendas and minutes. The objective is to get the entire thread about a given discussion in one place. When raising an issue for discussion or clarification, the process is now to * open an issue on our github project and describe the concern there * send email to this mailing list with the URL of that issue * all discussion will then occur in that issue via the github site by adding comment to the issue Issues can still be searched by way of the github search interface. Note that participants in this mailing list will *not* be automatically notified of discussion comments added to these issues unless they either * Use github to subscribe to the OpenGridForum/DFDL repository in general or * Use github to subscribe to a specific issue of interest. The minutes for the call today (2025-02-13) close out all the "action items" and replace them with corresponding github issues. We have 34 issues in open status. We will need some way of focusing the call's attention on the open issues that need discussion. Suggest adding a new label eg 'action required' or 'under discussion', and then the call would simply be a case of going through those issues. Agreed. New issues opened since last call would always be on the agenda by default (unless resolved and closed before the call) In the lead-up to a call a reminder will go out and people should raise issues they want discussed to be added to the agenda. I don't think we should add "No action taken" comments to issues. That distorts the "updated" date associated with the issue. It can be useful to report on issues not being updated, so those dates reflecting only "real" comments with content is important. We should write up our workgroup's process on our github Wiki I think. On Thu, Feb 13, 2025 at 1:40 PM Steve Hanson <smhdfdl@gmail.com> wrote:
