proposed clarification/narrowing - no twos-complement decimal, integer or nonNegativeInteger

The spec is not clear on whether decimal, integer, and nonNegativeInteger support representation='binary' with binaryNumberRep='binary' (aka twos-complement). Since these types do not have any size limit, such a capability allows arbitrarily large twos-complement integers, or perhaps it would be an implementation defined limit. I believe the right choice is that it should be disallowed. That is, only binaryNumberRep of 'bcd' or 'packed' should be allowed for these types. These types have always been about decimal-style representations to me. Question re: dfdl:property element and element form

Ref. DFDL v1.0 (Jan 31, 11'), section 7.1.3.2 (Property Binding Syntax: Element Form): I interpret from the reading that dfdl:property is child of dfdl:format, and implicitly that this form is necessary for element form binding of dfdl attributes (properties). Can I then infer that dfdl:format is the only dfld element that can use element form to specify properties (attributes) for itself? Thanks in advance.

bits and alignment and delimiters

Are delimiters implicitly text in the sense of being aligned to an 8-bit boundary? E.g., if I have <element name="threeBits" type="xs:byte" dfdl:alignmentUnits="bits" dfdl:alignment="1" dfdl:lengthUnits="bits" dfdl:length="{3}" dfdl:terminator="%#x55;"/> Does that terminator byte of 0x55 begin at bit 4, immediately after the last bit of the content region, or does it implicitly move up to bit 8? I know the answer if instead of a terminator, the threeBits had no terminator but was followed by an element of type xs:string. Text always has byte alignment (at least). But what about initiators/terminators/separators which are allowed in binary data. I know I really want the answer here to be that we treat delimiters as text always, so byte alignment (minimum). We decided in the end to continue to allow %WSP; to appear on its own in the places it is currently permitted, as there are some scenarios where it could prove useful. If scanning, then when no white space is present in the data, a zero length match is returned.. The DFDL spec is very restrictive about the use of %ES; - it is only permitted as a nil literal value. But the spec does not say anything about the use of %WSP*; when used on its own - which may equivalently be written as "%ES; %WSP+;". I don't think that %WSP*; should be allowed on its own other than for nil literal value. It may of course be used in combination with other DFDL entities.
