Hi, We have a 90 minute session at OGF 26 with the following description: "Metrics and an API for Green Computing on the Cloud" Growing concerns for the environment mean that users of compute services will soon need to account for CO2 produced by their use these resources. This means that the energy or CO2 used by services must be visible to workload management systems and also reported to users and others. In cloud computing this requires commonly agreed and understood metrics to relate the execution of a service to the CO2 produced by the underlying resources and also an API that allows the reporting of CO2 and SLA negotiation using CO2 as a constraint. Following on from a session during OGF25 we will explore the basis for CO2 metrics from experiences and the requirements for CO2 reporting APIs. Does anyone have a contribution that they want to make to this? Requirements or use cases that would drive this work ... Any similar work that helps with the data sources - types, formats ... Thoughts on links with other OGF WGs ... experiences from supplying or using such information ... straw men?
