ByteIO ====== OGF20, Manchester 13 participants UNICORE 6 ByteIO Implementation ------------------------------- Shahbaz Memon described the UNICORE 6 Architecture and the ByteIO implementation as part of the File Transfer Service. This includes both the Random and Streamable interfaces (see slides). There was a question about syntax of statement in JSDL document. There was a question about which MTOM implementation used - the Xfire one. OGSA-DAI -------- Neil Chue Hong described the OGSA-DAI implementation of ByteIO on behalf of Amy Krause. There was a question about whether the implementation aimed to do streamable - no, aim full implementation of randomIO only. Which second transfer mechanism was planned apart from simple? Maybe gridftp. Would you do a ByteIO interface to Globus? May be XIO or GridFTP? Not all databases support direct access to blobs, what do you do then? Will you be able to support direct access for those which do? May have to instantiate as a file or store in memory. Interop Document ---------------- All implementations using different WS stacks - Axis, Axis2, Xfire, JavaWS. Plan Interop for the summer - July 21st deadline for setting up public endpoints. Mark Morgan would set up a wiki to coordinate information recording. Would the group think about doing a paper? Crossing interesting borders - UNICORE, GENESIS II, OGSA-DAI - turn experiences document into paper. Morris Riedel volunteered to help with this. Question asked about whether we would need to recharter to consider extensions. We should do some publicity to say how wonderful the interop went at OGF21 in Seattle. In a similar way to HPCP. Can show that different Web Services stacks can be made to interoperate. Can we do an overlap with BES in the new BES demo for SC2007? Maybe we need to get a BES +ByteIO scenario that each need to implement. Would this need to include RNS? Use ByteIO as staging element for BES interop demo. Morris will talk to the BES and GIN folks (Marty Humphrey and Erwin Laure). -- Neil P Chue Hong | T: [+44] (0)131 650 5957 Project Manager, EPCC | F: [+44] (0)131 650 6555 Rm 2409, JCMB, Mayfield Rd. | E: N.ChueHong@epcc.ed.ac.uk Edinburgh, EH9 3JZ, UK | W: http://www.epcc.ed.ac.uk BT MeetMe: http://tinyurl.com/8mwhd - Code: 14712935# "A film is like a battleground.
