Hi all, I would very much appreciate if you could bring better description to Thursday F2F in order to clear up misunderstanding like this.
What about ACS? o General Data Store -- Good Place to Keep Packaged Apps Ready for Deployment (under CDDLM control) -- Not Sure Who Specifies the Format of the App Packages -- But doesn’t matter to us! o Supports Complex Querying -- i.e., it is an Info Service! -- No Specification of Data Model
See you at ACS-WG session #1. -- Hiro Kishimoto

Mike, May I ask you to take care of this? Though I'm not sure to redo the introduction of the ACS you've done at the last OGSA meeting address to the request, I think it's OK about the contents itself; nothing has changed since then for us. I myself have explained ACS to the audiences at OGSA-EMS and CDDLM sessions on Monday and at OGSA-RSS on Tuesday. I believe my comment is taken as I meant and cleared the questions there. Talk to you later. -Keisuke Hiro Kishimoto wrote:

Here are a few slides I've thrown together having had a quick trawl through some of the current CDDLM and ACS drafts.
Donal.

Keisuke and Mike, Here is my understanding.
What about ACS? o General Data Store -- Good Place to Keep Packaged Apps Ready for Deployment (under CDDLM control)
Yes
-- Not Sure Who Specifies the Format of the App Packages
ACS(AAF) specfies the format. But ACS client (such as CDDLM) gets contents through ARI as byte data (either embedded or attached to SOAP message, or any other protocol like gridFtp may be used) and needs not care about the format.
-- But doesn't matter to us!
Right.
o Supports Complex Querying -- i.e., it is an Info Service!
No. ACS does not specify meta information for application itsself. ACS specifies meta information required for ACS to provide ARI operations, i.e., Create/Update/GetArchive, GetContents. The contents in AA are completely opaque for ACS.
-- No Specification of Data Model
No. - Sachiko

Hope everyone is having safe and happy travels back from the GGF/Grid-World. I like Donal's line of questions in his brief and I really like his suggestion about some possible services: FindContianer, GenerateContainer, etc. (I presume BES folks has seen his slides) While a list of attributes (propoerties) could be defined now to help one describe the requirements of an activity and those of the container, ultimately it would be nice to have a way to standardize the set of attributes which can be used for that purpose. This way, they do not have to be determined now, instead we could have a document which simply contains the resource requirements and cotainer requirements so that matches can be made. It does not really matter at this point what all the attributes are, as long as we define the interfaces to obtain the list. Hiro Kishimoto wrote:
